Working principle
The lip seal in the pressure reducing module runs on a bush with special helical grooves. These grooves and the peripheral velocity of the bush allow the water to flow from the flushing water supply to the flushing water discharge. This way, a hydrodynamic layer is built up which effectively lubricates the seal. The flow in the flushing water discharge serves as an indicator of the condition of the seal. Over time, the helical grooves on the bush gradually wear down. This way, a smaller amount of water will flow through the seal and the water discharge flow gradually decreases. A decrease in this flow indicates when maintenance should take place. This way,
maintenance can be planned and MTBM can be optimized: precautionary maintenance will no longer be needed.
MTBM
There is no standard MTBM. The MTBM may vary from several weeks or months (heavy duty dredging applications), 5 to 8 years (specific industrial applications) up to 20 years (drinking water applications).
